GR 67 Itinerary advices

 

The Mas Corbières is a beautiful step between Colognac and Aire de Côte

You can arrive and leave the Mas Corbières by different paths, come and enjoy the river and this peaceful place: terraced gardens with a beautiful view of the valley and the Rock of Corbières (magnificent scattered granite stones) which dominates . Here are the most enjoyable paths:

 

Itineraire GR67


Coming from Colognac to the Mas Corbières

Colognac - Mas Corbières provide: A 5 hour walk, not including rest time.
Take the GR 6-67 to the top of Fageas, then continue along the Eagle Rock:
This will take you through the forest trail, shaded route and easier for the knees.
On the other hand the route of the Fageas to the pass of the Asclier directly, borrows the draille of transhumance, it is faster but,be careful, the descent is hard!
At the Asclier Pass, south side, at road level, pass the house, the path (GR 6b) is just before the source (table and benches), on your right, in the axis of the valley.
There is a 35 minute descent to reach the Mas Corbières.
The next day
From the Mas Corbières to the Aire de Côte (or Les Plantiers).
From the Mas Corbières to the Aire de cote: allow 5H30 of walking, not including rest time.
We take you on the GR 6b: a small path that joins the hamlet of Puech Sigal, above Notre Dame de la Rouvière. We do not go down to the village of N. Dame de la Rouvière.
In Pueh Sigal (water) we continue on a beautiful crested path , 4 Jasses then passage into Valbounette valley through beautiful beech trees, we reach the GR 6-67 at the Col de l'Homme Mort.
 


Coming from the Aire de Côte to the Mas Corbières
The Aire de cote to the Mas Corbières: allow 5h to 5h30 walk, not including rest time.
Take the GR 6-67 to the Col de l'Asclier.
South slope, level with the road, pass the house, the path (GR 6b) is just before the source (table and benches), on your right, in the axis of the valley.
There is a 30 minute descent to reach the Mas Corbières.
The next day
From the Mas Corbières to Colognac: by the Bès pass.
The Mas Corbières to Colognac -allow 5h30 to 6h walk, not including rest time.
We descend under the cottage by a path which goes along the river, left bank.
We pass over the Mas de Mourgues to take the path to the Col de Bès
On the left, Menhir and a very beautiful view of Mount Aigoual to the west.
- Take the marked path "Col de l'Asclier", climb through the oak grove and continue on the path which goes along the side of the mountain ; the path crosses the road at the scattered granite stones of Corbières Rock: cross the road going up a few meters, go through the entrance to a house for a few meters, take the path immediately on your right, it will take you through the beeches to the Asclier pass.The journey continues directly through the transhumance draille to the Fageas or bypassing by the forest track and Eagle Rock; In both cases, you will end up at the Lougarès pass and at the Col des Fosses and Colognac.
 
Hiking possibilty for those who know how to read an IGN map
From the pass of Bès we directly reach the southern slope of Liron Mountain, in ridges until the Lougarès pass:
At the Col de Bès: Take the marked path "Col de l'Asclier", climb into the oak grove and after the two hairpins leave the path and climb on the moutain range along an electric fence, climb short but steep to point 972.
Full North, take the track under the Liron Mountain to reach the neck of Lougarès (menhir).
We are at the pass of Lougarès the GR 6-67 which goes to Colognac.

On foot, from the Mas Corbières one can reach the nearest town and bus

By the Col de Bès, 1 hour walk from the Mas Corbières: The Equestrian Route joins the GR 60 then Sumène and Ganges, in about 4 hours.
You can reach Pont d'Hérault in about 4 hours
